We were lucky to catch up with Jasmine Hayllar recently and have shared our conversation below.
Jasmine, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
I’ve always had a passion for helping people, especially within the medical field. One of my first jobs was as a waitress in a senior living community, which sparked my interest in working with the elderly and providing them with support. From there, I pursued my education to become a Pharmacy Tech, which opened the door to the DME industry. The DME world has been incredible for me—it allows me to combine my desire to help people with the opportunity to educate patients on their benefits and the items that are covered to make their homes safer and more comfortable. I truly believe my purpose is to help people live better lives by providing them with the tools and knowledge they need to succeed in managing their health at home.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
Professionally, I’m focused on helping people in the medical industry, specifically through my work in the Durable Medical Equipment (DME) business. I currently lead a growing company, Forester Family Medical Supply, where we provide essential medical equipment to patients, primarily through Medicare and Medicaid. What excites me most about what I do is the opportunity to educate patients about their benefits and guide them to the right equipment that can make their lives easier and safer at home. It’s incredibly fulfilling to know that the work we do is making a tangible impact on the lives of individuals and families.
One thing that sets us apart is our approach to customer service—we really aim to treat each person as part of our family, which is why we use the slogan “Join Our Family.” We’re all about building strong, long-lasting relationships and ensuring that our clients have the support they need.
Right now, we’re expanding our reach across Colorado by connecting with healthcare providers, home care agencies, and physical therapists. We host vendor fairs and attend other healthcare events across the state to reach healthcare providers about our services. We’re not only educating patients but also educating providers about how we can work together to support their patients’ needs. It’s an exciting time for us, and we’re passionate about the future and what we can do next to support our community.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Looking back, there are three key qualities that have been most impactful in my journey. First, empathy has been essential. Being able to put myself in others’ shoes and truly understand their needs has shaped how I approach my work. Whether it’s listening to a patient’s concerns or understanding the challenges healthcare providers face, empathy has helped me build meaningful relationships.
Second, continuous learning has been vital. The healthcare and DME industries are always evolving, and staying informed and adaptable is crucial to providing the best service. I’ve found that ongoing education—whether formal or informal—keeps me ahead in the industry and empowers me to make informed decisions.
Finally, strong communication skills have been a game changer. In this field, being able to effectively communicate with both patients and healthcare providers is key. It allows me to advocate for patients, explain complicated concepts, and collaborate with other professionals to ensure the best care.
For those early in their journey, my advice would be to actively cultivate empathy by engaging with people from diverse backgrounds, embrace opportunities for learning, and work on improving communication, especially in challenging or complex situations. Developing these qualities will create a solid foundation for success, no matter the industry.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?
Yes, we’re always looking for opportunities to partner and collaborate with others who share our commitment to improving healthcare and supporting patients. Specifically, we’re looking to connect with healthcare providers, including occupational therapists (OT), physical therapists (PT), speech therapists, doctors, home care agencies, nurses, and senior living homes. We believe that by working together, we can provide a more comprehensive support system for patients and enhance their quality of life at home.
